A quiet force in modern songwriting, Our Man in the Field—fronted by British troubadour Alex Ellis—have so far flown under the radar, honing his craft and earning the respect of his musical heroes. The last album, Gold on the Horizon, produced by Tucker Martine (My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists), was hailed as “wondrous” by Bill Bentley, championed by BBC’s Mark Radcliffe and recommended Willy Vlautin of The Delines; “ Their new album is the best thing they’ve done so far... and that's saying something.
It's currently on repeat in our van and is a true beauty of a record." Now, the band step into the spotlight with Silverado (Cowboy Hip-Hop), recorded at Mark Knopfler’s British Grove Studios with Dire Straits’ Guy Fletcher producing and featuring Ethan Johns, Robbie McKintosh, Chuck Prophet and Will Fry (Jungle). This latest work sees them blending cinematic Americana with daring new textures, proving why those in the know have been paying close attention. Having toured extensively last year with The Delines and Chuck Prophet, playing over 150 shows including Black Deer, Red Rooster, and Deer Shed, 2025 will see the band take the stage at the Glastonbury Acoustic Stage and Highways Festival at the Royal Albert Hall—perhaps finally emerging from the shadows.
